Each year from May to July the Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Berks County located in Birdsboro, PA hosts a Pet Portrait FUNraiser to raise money to benefit all of the furry friends at their shelter. People may commission a portrait of their beloved pets with a donation to the shelter, and volunteer guest artists draw the pets in a variety of media. The voting portion to the event is kicked off with an art show and block party hosted by ARL Berks. Though some of the prizes for the portraits with the most votes changes each year, each year the grand winner will be the face of ARL Berks' exclusive coffee blend from Reading Coffee Roasters and each of the top ten winners will have their pet portrait displayed in the front lobby of the shelter for the whole year. For the 2023 event, a total of $15,753 was raised for the animal shelter.
